Matthew Bent, who's son Shiloh had been bullied, posted an anti-bullying message on Facebook in March saying, ‘I stand behind my son.’ The post went viral.
A Wisconsin dad who fought back against bullying with a courageous Facebook picture is finally seeing action.
The Kaukauna Area School District, southwest of Green Bay, said last week it plans to strengthen its anti-bullying programs and provide more timely communications with families — the result of dad Matthew Bent complaining that his son, Shiloh, was being victimized at school.
The family's case also comes at a time of heightened sensitivities about bullying after young people have turned to suicide as an alternative.
“Would anything have happened if I didn’t take that picture?” Bent told the Appleton Post-Crescent. “My gut reaction tells me no.”
